Mielnicki Is Ready To Face Lara For The Title
In his second prize fight of the year, middleweight contender Vito “White Magic” Mielnicki Jr (24-1, 13 KO’s) defeated a durable and courageous Austin “Ammo” Williams (20-3, 13 KO’s) by unanimous decision. When the bloody, brain-rattling brawl concluded, all three judges ruled in Mielnicki’s favor, 98-91. He then proceeded to call out WBA champion “The American Dream” Erislandy Lara
White Magic entered into this duel already armed with the favorable standings of #3 WBO, #7 WBC, #7 WBA and #9 IBF. Now that he’s collected Williams’ scalp, he’s likely to get some uptick. Clearly aware of his position, Mielnicki Jr wasted little time making his first choice of opponents known during the post-fight in-ring interview.
HE WANTS A TITLE SHOT NEXT
“I’m just blessed to be here, I’m blessed to be in this position, I thank everyone who has been around me supporting me, day in and day out. But we are ready for the next level. Let’s go…I want a world title! I think Lara is a great fight for me. Two southpaws; that’s a guy I looked up to growing up. I’m ranked in the WBA high. I would love that fight, but any of the world titles!
Whether Lara (32-3-3, 19KO) selects Mielnicki Jr as his next opponent or not, it would behoove the Cuban fighter to slide through the ropes and fight someone. This is because it is swiftly approaching one full calendar year since the WBA champion has competed in the ring. Therefore, it will be interesting to see if The American Dream acknowledges the call out. With six guys standing in front of the WBA line, he is not lacking in options.
