Inoue Set To Return And Hoping To Be On Super Fly 2
WBO Super Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue,14-0 12KO, will be returning to action onDecember 30thto defend his title against Frenchman Yoan Boyeaux, 41-4 26KO.
It is a bout that certainly don’t get pulses racing, and seems more like a stay busy defense for the Japanese world champion than the much hoped for big year end blow out.
Inoue says he hasn’t ruled out an appearance on theFebruary 24thHBO show “Super Fly 2”. His team stated that he originally wasn’t asked, but he is looking to feature on the card now, and is hoping to secure a bout with IBF champion Jerwin Ancajas, 27-1-1 18Ko, who will fight this weekend in his third defense of the title.
Adding Inoue to the card could set up a potential clash between him and the winner of the main event, Sor Runvisai and Juan Francisco Estrada. Rungvisai headlined the original “Super Fly” card when he defeated former P4P king Roman Gonzalez.
Inoue stated that he would have to “be careful” against Boyeaux and avoid injuries and cuts, but if he can unify, as hoped, he can then move up to Bantamweight having fulfilled one of his hopes at Super Flyweight.
