Who’s Next For Crawford Based on the Rankings?

Next Possible Mandatory for Terence Crawford
Terence Crawford (Left), Egidijus Kavaliauskas (Top Right) and Alexander Besputin (Bottom Right)

The winner of Kavaliauskas/Besputin will be the likely opponent next for Terrence Crawford based on the WBO rankings.

Highly touted contender Egidijus Kavaliauskas (20-0, 16KO) is set to to become the WBO mandatory for Terrence Crawford if he can win vs Alexander Besputin (11-0, 9KO).

November 16 is the scheduled fight date. For boxing fans this would be frustrating news as it means a Spence bout will be on the back-burner for now.

Top Rank is the promoter for both Kavaliauskas and Besputin, therefore, the winner will be an easy fight to make. Moreover, it will satisfy Crawford’s mandatory obligations.

Undefeated Canadian contender Custio Clayton (15-0, 10KO) is technically the #1 contender now and also holds the WBO International title. However, GYM Promotions head Yvon Michel promotes him, therefore, that fight may be more difficult to make.

As for boxing fans, the best we can hope for is these fights happen in a timely manner. Hopefully Crawford will be available for a major fight against one of the other champions.
