No Super Fly For Ancajas

Ancajas To Join Top Rank

Recently there has been talk of IBF super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas to possibly jointhe February Super Fly 2 cardfor a unification bout against WBO champion, Japan’s Naoya Inoue. The Filipino has been on a tear his last few fight’s with his most recent being a one-sided domination of Jamie Conlan.

Itis unlikely we will see Ancajas on the Super Fly 2 productionfor HBO as it was announced today he will be promoted by Top Rank by CEO Bob Arum. He previously fought onthe undercard of Manny Pacquiao and Jeff Horn in Brisbane which was a Top Rank promotion.

The move to Top Rank would presumably stop any chanceof him appearing on a HBO production. The recent move of Arum to ESPN hasn’t createdthe best mutual working relationship between the two.

Even though Ancajasmay not be part of Super Fly 2 it doesn’t completely prevent him being able to secure possible unification fights with the other 115lb champions because they’re not obligated to HBO. Arum did say that Ancajas is expected to return in February.

Ancajas has been promoted under Filipino superstar Pacquiao’s company previously and it is not certain whether this announcement means he will be co-promoted or what at this time.
