Carlos Ocampo returns from Errol Spence KO in spectacular fashion
Former world title contender Carlos Ocampo (23-1, 14 KOs) made his return in impressive fashion against Jesús Rojas (12-5-2, 10 KOs). This fight took place Saturday evening at Club Britania in Chihuahua, Mexico.
This fight followed Ocampo’s first career loss, wherein he failed to claim Errol Spence Jr.’s IBF Welterweight title. Therefore, this win was a much needed comeback for the #3 rated fighter.
Ocampo went to Rojas’ body early, showing that he had learned from his last fight. In rounds one and two, he used his height and reach advantage to control both distance and pace to set things up. The body shots came into play in round three. Rojas suffered a perfect left hook to the liver, which prompted the ref to wave off the contest. The underdog would not find glory tonight.
This proves that Ocampo’s previous loss has not mentally destroyed him. In fact, he was able to learn from the experience and it served him well.
