Luis Ortiz is off the table!
The heavyweight division’s most avoided man is tired of playing nice. Luis “King Kong” Ortiz (31-1, 26KOs) broke his silence on Anthony “AJ” Joshua (22-0, 21KOs).
It recently made headline news that, due to rampant PED use, Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller had invalidated himself for his big June 1 showdown with Joshua. As a result, there was a mad dash to find a replacement opponent.
Among the first to offer their services was Luis Ortiz. He has unsuccessfully chased after Joshua for years. Yet, even on short notice, Ortiz and his manager made it brutally clear they wanted the fight.
The top ranked heavyweight voiced his displeasure over the situation on social media.
Despite telling the Cuban and the public that Team Joshua was considering him as a viable opponent, this has turned out to be a falsehood. Team Ortiz responded to this news by saying Joshua’s team gave “low ball” offers which never indicated any legitimate interest.
Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, and Dillian Whyte have all accused Matchroom Promotion of this tactic. The only reason they were quiet up to this point is due to Eddie Hearn insisting their silence would help facilitate the negotiation process.
In the end, this all appears to be more trickery and illusion as perceived by Team Ortiz!
