Collazo Runs Over Cano Looks To Fight In Puerto Rico Next

Unified minimumweight champion Oscar “El Pupilo” Collazo (12-0, 9KO) beat down Edwin Cano (13-3-1, 4KO) with ease. The Puerto Rican looked unstoppable and wants a fight in his home country of Puerto Rico in the summer.

In a brutal assault, El Pupilo repeatedly landed hard shots to the body that weakened Edwin Cano. In the fourth round, he hit Cano with everything but the kitchen sink. Realizing the fighter was wilting, Collazo punished the Mexican to canvas, forcing the stoppage in the fifth round.

During the post-fight interview, Collazo wants to return to the ring in the summer, hopefully in Puerto Rico.

“I want my next fight in July, June, or July. We ready …we want the card in Puerto Rico.”

Although he didn’t call out either of the champions, in this author’s opinion, Taduran and Jerusalem would lose. Collazo fights at a much higher level than either Filipino champion, and his ring IQ is off the charts.

On March 30, Jerusalem is rematching Yudai Shigeoka and if victories he could look to rematch Collazo. It’s likely Taduran will rematch Ginjiro Shigeoka also. In this author’s opinion it doesn’t matter who wins, Collazo beats them all.
