William Zepeda Might Still Not Be Ready for Shakur Stevenson

For a bit of time now, many in the boxing populace have wanted to see WBC lightweight champion “Fearless” Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KO’s) take on knockout artist William “Camaron” Zepeda (32-0, 27 KO’s). Yet, in his duel versus veteran Tevin Farmer, the normally dominant Zepeda had his hands very full. In fact, the crafty Farmer was so toilsome that Zepeda versus Stevenson now looks more like a lamb being led to slaughter.

Sure, the hardened fans of Tevin Farmer will sing the praises of the former super featherweight champion. In the end though, Farmer by all intents and purposes has entered the later stage of his career. And as close as they were, he is now coming off two back-to-back defeats. Stevenson, on the other hand, remains undefeated, is ultra confident, in the prime of his abilities and far more defensively sound.

Stevenson has suffered his fair share of criticism for performances. Many felt he either moved too much or failed to go for the kill when available. Despite these charges, Fearless is still considered to be one of the more elite specimens in the sport.

NOW WHAT?!

Having seen Zepeda pushed to his wits’ end against Farmer, now there is serious question if Cameron continues to pursue this prizefight. As far as Stevenson is concerned, he has already taken to his social media to alert the world he is still very interested in this showdown.

Fearless has been calling for a name that the fanbase holds some esteem for and to this point Zepeda has fit that bill. Assuming that the suits are swift with the contracts, and there is no change of heart, there should be an official announcement in the coming weeks. So, let’s keep our ears to the ground and see what happens next. This could be just the action-fight that Stevenson has been searching for!
