Valdez To Headline ESPN Card In California
Oscar Valdez is set to defend his featherweight title March 10 at StubHub Center in Carson, California. His opponent is yet to be announced but the fight will headline a Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card.
Valdez (23-0, 19 knockouts), the only two-time Olympian in Mexico’s history, topped Genesis Servania in September in a fight that featured both men on the canvas. The fight against Servania followed a grueling victory over Miguel Marriaga, also atthe StubHub Center.
The Mexican star has already made three defenses of his 126-pound title that he won in July of 2016 by defeating the undefeated Argentine Matias Rueda. If all goes according to plan for Bob Arum, Valdez could meet Carl Frampton at some pointin 2018.
Valdezis the type of fighter that most fans loveto watch fight in that he isn’t afraidto get in there and mix it up. He is also starting to build a solid fan base in and around the Los Angeles area and this next fight should only bolster that.
