Otha Jones talks stoppage win and taking on all comers!
For the rising lightweight prospect Otha “OJ3” Jones III (5-0, 2 KO’s), a native of Toledo, OH, his night in the office on January 30 was acutely bitter-sweet.
On the one hand, he got in the ring on the Demetrius Andrade v Luke Keller undercard and put on a surgical performance against his most experienced foe to date in Juan “Chago” Santiago (16-18-2, 9 KO’s).
All throughout his preparation for the bout, his main objective was working on his power, ferocity and unleashing pain on his opponents jaw bone. Once in the squared-circle, Jones was able to put it all together and dismantled Chago in a two-round devastation.
Unfortunately, despite everything culminating in the perfect storm, the bout was not shown on air!
Although disappointed himself, OJ3 was even more crestfallen for his fans. Following the successful outing, Jones III quickly took to his Twitter account to apologize to those who thought they’d get to see him in action.
READY FOR ALL UNKNOWN
While upset that his loyal fans and potential new fans did not get to see him in action, OJ3 was still excited that he was able to secure the quick dominant knockout victory, as he told to AB Boxing News.
“It feels great that I came out and showed out. I got the TKO and I started the Super Bowl weekend off real good.
“I thought it [his performance] was a 10 because all camp we were working sitting down, placing punches on the chin and I executed tonight and I got him out of there in the second round.”
At the moment, Jones III doesn’t know who he will face next, but he is open to whatever and will remain vigilant in honing his skills until the next challenge presents itself.
“Man I want all the smoke! I’ll let Eddie [Hearn of Matchroom Promotions] know I want all the smoke!
“I’m just going to wait for that. When that call come, I’m working hard. I’m always in the gym.”
