Jose Pedraza v Mikkel LesPierre is off!
In a bit of heartbreaking news for two of the participants, it has now been announced that the main event for Top Rank promotions June 18 fight card has been canceled. The bout would have pit Jose “Sniper” Pedraza (26-3, 13 KO’s) against Mikkel “Slikk Mikk” LesPierre (22-1-1, 10 KO’s).
Apparently, Mikkel LesPierre’s manager, Jose Tavares, has contracted the COVID19 virus and has been banned from the Bubble.
Unfortunately, Tavares was in contact with LesPierre, so according to Top Rank protocols, Slikk Mikk has been pulled from the card as well. In place of Pedraza vs LesPierre, Gabriel Flores vs Josec Ruiz will now serve as the main event.
Despite the stringent directives that Top Rank has put in place to try to keep the fighters and staff shielded from COVID19, this is now the third prizefight scrapped directly due to the virus.
Hopefully, Tavares and all of Team LesPierre are safe and able to navigate through the contamination without any further major setbacks.
