Pedro Guevara and Alexis Molina Battle to Split Draw

In their latest tour of duty, super flyweight boxers Pedro “Jibran Pedrin” Guevara (45-5-2, 22 KO’s) and Alexis “Chapito” Molina (13-1-2, 5 KO’s) fought to an unsatisfactory split draw. The decision was all the more unwelcome given that most observers believed that Molina had done more than enough to claim the victory.

Molina no doubt is doubly disappointed with the outcome given that he was a late replacement coming into the duel. Despite only having ten days to prepare, Chapito gave the #8 (WBC) ranked Guevara all that he could handle. Many believe more.

All too often, when fighters are presented the chance to slink past with a questionable, win they take it. Thus far, this does not appear to be the path that Guevara is aiming to walk. When asked in the post-fight interview what each thought, naturally they both believed they should have won. Guevara, along with Molina, said he was interested in immediately running it back. Only time will tell if he was serious or if Guevara was simply saving face in the moment.
