Yoali Mosqueda Steamrolls Barreras and Sets Eyes on Olascuaga
In his second bout of the year, flyweight contender Yoali Mosqueda (14-0, 11 KO’s) tore through German Barreras with ease. If given his way, Mosqueda would next test his might against WBO 112-pound champion Anthony “Princesa” Olascuaga (9-1, 6 KO’s).
Near immediately it was evident that Barreras was in above his pay grade. This is why it came as no surprise that after being temporarily felled by a clean left hook, the bout was halted within the distance. Naturally, the #4 (WBO) and #15 (WBA) ranked boxer is happy to have claimed the fresh scalp. Nevertheless, this latest conquest will not be enough to satisfy him for long.
Olascuaga picked up the vacant title a little over a year ago when he bested Riku Kano back on July 20, 2024. Even in a perfect world though, before Mosqueda could get his hands on the WBO champ, Princesa has a September 11 dance date with Juan Camacho-Rivera. Provided that Olascuaga comes out on top, the two bruisers would be perfectly lined up for a fourth quarter 2025 or first quarter 2026 showdown.
First however, let’s see what Olascuaga can get done on September 11 because, minus a win, this is much ado about nothing.
