Perrella Wins UD Over Martin

The second bout of PBC on FS1 from Hialeah Park in Miami, Florida featured Bryant Perrella (14-1, 13 KO) against Alex Martin (13-2, 5 KO) in 8 round welterweight bout.

The opening round started out with Perrella coming forward landing his jab and a lead left. Towards the end of the first Perrella landed a right hook that dropped Martin. By the second round Martin seemed to gotten his legs underneath him but Perrella just kept walking him down and seemed to have no respect for Martin’s punches.

By the third Martin was doing some good things but just wasn’t active enough. In the fourth Martin used his movement and worked behind his jab. By the fifth Martin was catching Perrella coming forward for what seemed to be his best round. As Perrella was coming straight in Martin kept catching him side stepping and slipping punches. Perrella seemed to have got caught up with the knockdown and abandoned his jab looking for the big punch.

Going into the last 3 rounds the fight seemedclose with Martin slowing down both men were able to land some shots. Martin was able to make adjustments and find himself in the fight. In the final round both men landed some shots but towards the end of the round it was Martin who landed the cleaner punches.

The judges favoredPerrella as he got a unanimous decision (79-72,79-72,77-74) to improve his record to 15-1, 13 KO. Perrella didn’t look bad at for a guy coming from a 14 month layoff would be interesting to see who they match him up with next.
