Caleb Plant is laser-focused for Canelo Alvarez fight

The boxing community has pushed everything to the backburner for the upcoming undisputed super middleweight fight between unified champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (56-1-1, 38ko) and IBF champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant (21-0, 12ko). It is a history-making event crowning the first-ever undisputed super middleweight champion. Alvarez is the face of boxing, and the boxing machine is fully behind him. This makes it hard to win a decision against the Mexican champion.

The IBF champion has a major uphill battle in the upcoming bout in his pursuit of becoming the second fighter to beat Alvarez. Nonetheless, he does not seem overwhelmed by the moment at all. Part of the reason could be due to his commitment of why he fights.

“I believed in myself…that’s why I worked so hard. Like I said, I sacrificed a lot. I want to be in those history books, and that’s why I am doing this.”

PLANT IS NOT BACKING DOWN

Plant has been more aggressive and vocal than usual. In the first press conference to promote the fight, there was an incident with Alvarez pushing Sweethands after feeling offended by the use of the word “motherfucker”.

The internet went ablaze after seeing Plant miss a retaliation attempt only to be countered by Alvarez. Determined not to let that be the main topic, Plant took to social media to prove he did indeed lay hands on his adversary.

“Missed my ASS.”

Even recently, in an interview with Fight Hub TV, Plant made it clear that he will be taking the fight to Canelo.

“I’m going to be right up in his face.”

Plant maintained this same mindset in the final presser, and he made it clear he is not playing going into the fight.

“Not much time left and really not much left to say. So, I am going to keep it short and sweet. Leading up to this fight, Canelo said that Mexican don’t fuck around. Well, that’s good to know cause where I am from, we don’t fuck around neither.”
