Regis Prograis v Tyrone McKenna Set for March 19!
Former WBA junior welterweight champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (26-1, 22KOs) is set to return to the ring on March 19 in Dubai against Tyrone “The Mighty Celt” McKenna (22-2-1, 6KOs).
This matchup stems from months of trash talk between the two. At one point, McKenna accused Prograis of running scared from him. This led the New Orleans native to respond by saying he’d easily defeat McKenna. Now, after months of negotiations, these two can breathe a sigh of relief as they can finally look forward to shutting one another up.
HIGH STAKES FOR BOTH MEN!
Prograis, who’s ranked #7 in the WBO, #5 in the IBF, # 3 in the WBC and # 6 in the WBA, is in a great position to challenge for another world title. A win here would keep him right in the thick of things. This is considering his rival and former opponent, undisputed champion Josh Taylor. If victorious against Jack Catterall in February, Taylor is expected move to welterweight. As for McKenna, a win would go a long way towards helping him in his pursuit of a world title opportunity. He’s currently ranked #10 in the WBO and #11 in the WBA.
PROGRAIS HAS A MESSAGE FOR MCKENNA!
3Kings Boxing spoke with Prograis, who said the following:
I’m going to make him uglier than he already is. I’m going to beat the sleeves off of his ass. He’s been talking a whole lot of shit. “
