Regis Prograis To Get Teofimo Lopez Fight Next?
Things have been heating up between WBC junior welterweight champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (28-1, 24KO) and former unified lightweight champion “The Takeover” Teofimo Lopez Jr (18-1, 13KO). The WBC champion continues to snap back hard at Team Lopez. This time, his sharp comeback was aimed at trainer Teofimo Lopez Sr.
The Takeover did not appreciate Rougarou’s comment about putting him in the hospital during a Q&A with fans. He attributed the rude comment to Prograis not knowing how to correctly express himself.
Prograis recently responded to a post by Top Rank Promotions asking who should Lopez fight next. The New Orleans native swiftly responded by claiming that Lopez should stay away from him. In addition, Rougarou is well aware that Lopez will likely be named the mandatory challenger after former champion Jose Ramirez backed out of the fight.
THE COMMENT THAT KICKED IT OFF
During an interview with ESNEWS, Lopez Sr revealed that his son wants to fight Prograis next.
“We want that fight . . . my son is good with fighters that come forward, and they come to fight.”
“We ain’t scared of nobody bro . . . We want him, and we want him in April . . . tell Prograis we coming for his ass.”

Of course, Prograis got word of all the trash-talking by the elder Lopez and took to social media with a stern message.
