Super Middleweight Osleys Iglesias Is Making Some Noise

Cuban fighters are changing the narrative of being safety-first boxers and are showing a more aggressive style. Super middleweight prospect Osleys Iglesias (10-0, 9KO) is one of those fighters who is gaining attention for being a power puncher with an attitude.

A LOOK AT HIS AMATEUR ACHIEVEMENTS

Iglesias is a decorated amateur who participated in the World Series of Boxing three times. He also fought his way to the final in the Cuban National Championship four times but was defeated each time by two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Arlen Lopez.

The 27-year-old shared the ring with WBA Regular champion David Morrell and junior middleweight champion Israil Madrimov in the amateurs. With a reported 184 wins in over 200 amateur fights, he picked up victories in the Thailand International Invitational Tournament, the Cordova Cardin Tournament twice, and the Silver medal four times in the Torneo Nacional Playa Giron.

ENTERING THE PROFESSIONAL RANKS

After breaking away from the Cuban team in Germany, Iglesias would begin his journey into the professional ranks. After easily plowing over the first five opponents, he took on two-time world light heavyweight title challenger Isaac Chilemba.

The Cuban showed tremendous growth in the only fight of his career that went the distance. Iglesias’ speed, movement, and combination punches were the story of the contest en route to winning a comfortable unanimous decision. He currently holds the fringe IBO title after scoring a sensational knockout over Andrii Velikovskyi in 2022.

This rising prospect caught the attention of Eye Of The Tiger Management. It is the same company that guides the careers of top super middleweight contenders Christian Mbilli and Eric Bazinyan. In his debut under EOTTM, Iglesias ran over veteran Marcelo Coceres in the first round.

Blessed with natural gifts such as quick feet, height, reach, and power, Iglesias is quickly making a name for himself.
