Jose Resendiz Open to All Challengers After Plant Upset!
In easily the biggest win of his career, super middleweight fighter Jose “Toro” Resendiz (16-2, 11 KO’s) upset Caleb “Sweethands” Plant by way of split decision. With the spoils of war, Resendiz usurped Plant’s interim WBA super middleweight title. After beginning the match favorably, Plant’s energy reserves dipped greatly in the fifth period and never returned.
Prior to this fight card, the tentative plan was for Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (34-0, 15 KO’s) to face Plant in their next fight. Sadly for the fans of that particular bout however, Resendiz happily stepped up to play spoiler. As it seems there was no rematch clause involved with Sweethands, Toro is free to go seek his next opponent without any hindrance.
When asked if he would like to face Charlo himself, while Resendiz did not say no, he simply made himself available to all the best opposition. Clearly ecstatic about the improbable victory, Resendiz gives the impression that he will want to return to action as quickly as possible. With this being the case, it would be surprising if there was a push to see Toro dance with Charlo next.
