Lerrone Richards keeps undefeated record intact, decisions Giovanni De Carolis
On the undercard of Buatsi versus Dos Santos, Lerrone “Sniper the Boss” Richards (15-0, 3 KO’s) defeated Giovanni De Carolis (28-10-1, 13 KO’s) by way of unanimous decision. With the victory, Richards captured the vacant EBU European Super Middleweight title. The victory should advance Richards, ranked #10 (WBO), in the rankings.
EASY PICKINGS
For the first three rounds, Richards was able to easily control the action and pace with his jab and movement. Right from the start, Richards circled Carolis while popping him with jab that was far more pesky than hurtful. Unfortunately for him, Carolis’ feet and hands were far too slow to catch up with his faster foe. When the Italian did plant his feet, Sniper would dig more meaningful hooks in his body.
Outside of the southpaw Richards throwing a higher volume of punches and sitting down on more punches, rounds four through six were a carbon copy of the first three. As a prisoner of his far slower limbs, De Carolis was near helpless in the fight. It was clear that his frustration was mounting. Sadly for De Carolis and the viewing public, nothing changed about the dynamics during the second half of the bout. Richards was too fast and elusive and De Carolis continue to eat shots throughout. As a result, Lerrone Richards won a predictably wide unanimous decision. One judge gave De Carolis one charity round. Other than that it was a clean sweep for Richards.
