Middleweight Prospect Michael Williams Jr adds Roy Jones Jr as trainer

Former multiple division world champion Roy Jones Jr. has decided to train young talented boxer Michael Williams Jr. (6-0, 5 KOs) for his next upcoming bout.

Williams Jr., a 19 year old North Carolina native, already holds the UNBC championship. Although young, he displays notable poise and talent. This was tested early in his career when he moved up to face a bigger fighter.

After being knocked down, he got up off the canvas, weathered the storm, and then finished his opponent. This is all part of the “150%” motto that is preached by his father/manager Michael Williams Sr.

Williams Sr. is no stranger to the sport either, being a local star basketball player. He also trained in boxing and gained a lot of knowledge about the sport from his travels with former world champion Vivian Harris.

Williams Jr. has been the beneficiary of this experience. He also instilled a work ethic and framework for success into his son while guiding the young man’s career.

Boxing is a sport where everything starts from the ground up. The harder you work, the better the results and more people will start to notice you.

This formula instilled by Team Williams has caught the attention of Jones Jr., who has invited them to be a part of his stable.

You can catch Jones Jr. in the corner of Williams Jr. next fight at Fort Bragg, NC on August 18th.
