Srisaket Sor Rungvisai vs Juan Francisco Estrada 2; Daniel Roman vs TJ Doheny moved to April 26
Previosuly,3KingsBoxing reported that a rematch between current WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Juan Francisco Estrada as well as the super bantamweight unification contest between WBA champion Danny Roman and IBF champion TJ Doheny would will take place in April in Los Angeles.
We originally posted the rematch would happen on April 6. Now, we have an update discussing further details of this highly anticipated rematch.
The fights will now happen on April 26 with Los Angeles still the venue and DAZN the network.
Fans have been clamoring for a rematch between Rungvisai and Estrada. The two engaged in a highly competitive contest at The Forum in February 2018, with Rungvisai winning by majority decision.
Their bout was one of the fights of the year for 2018 and Estrada, the WBC’s mandatory contender, has been itching for a rematch ever since.
On the Rungvisai – Estrada II under-card, Roman will have the luxury of engaging in a unification bout in his hometown of L.A. You would think that Doheny will need to be extra ready and wary; after all, he’s fighting in another man’s hometown.
However, it’s not the first time he has fought in his opponent’s backyard. This is the same fighter who defeated Royosuke Iwasa to win the IBF title last year in Japan.
He has also fought in the U.S. four times previously. Therefore, Doheny is used to fighting on the road and has an idea of what he needs to do to win.
