Conor Benn Tests Positive For Clomiphene But Chris Eubank Jr Fight Still On
In a surprising turn of events, the much-anticipated prizefight between Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (21-0, 14 ko’S) and Chris Eubank Jr (32-2, 23 KO’s) was in jeopardy. This due to Benn getting flagged for a banned substance. The highly effective organization VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency) blew the whistle on the fact that The Destroyer had traces of Clomiphene in his system.
Typically, Clomiphene is used to treat infertility in women but can also be used to inflate testosterone in men. While this is unfortunate news regarding the image of the hard-hitting welterweight, the October 8 clash is still expected to happen.
BAD FOR BOXING?
Despite both teams wanting to push forward, the British Boxing Board of Control has stated that authorizing this match at this point would not be good for the sport. While VADA identified the adverse finding, the actual anti-doping agency being used by the BBBofC is UKAD. With this being said UKAD has still to report any adverse findings. As a result, they released this statement:
