Ryan Garcia Continues his Pursuit of Isaac Cruz
Unsurprisingly, after watching his latest performance, super lightweight fighter “King” Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19 KO’s) once again professed his desire to face Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (25-2-1, 17 KO’s). While competing on the Spence versus Crawford undercard, Cruz went twelve frenetic rounds with Giovani Cabrera. Despite contending with Cabrera’s notable height advantage, Cruz was able to secure a split decision win. Obviously, King Ryan felt that there were a great number of flaws that he could exploit.
And given his statements when questioned about Garcia during his post-fight interview, it appears that Cruz is game.
“If the people want the fight and his people want to come over on this side and have a fight, no problem!”
TROUBLE AT HOME
At this point, Garcia has been pursuing a prizefight with Pitbull for a couple years. To date, Cruz’s major claim to fame is his December 5, 2021 unanimous decision loss to Regular WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis. Even though he walked away with the professional blemish, the duel introduced the pressure fighter to millions of new eyes. And ever since, the Mexican has been regularly mentioned as a viable opponent in significant matches. Even Team Davis has continually voiced their urge to clash with Pitbull again.
Before Garcia can sign a contract with anyone however, he must first get back on the same page with his Golden Boy Promotion (GBP) handlers. At the present time, Garcia is so peeved with this promotional team that GBP has actually formally sued King Ryan to force him to comply with his contract. GBP president Oscar De La Hoya even claims he could be making a fight with WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez if only Garcia would speak with him.
So it would seem before Garcia calls out anyone else, he needs to get his own business and promotional issues in order. Hopefully this current spat with GBP will not drag out for an extended period of time. Regardless of the duration, 3Kings Boxing will be here to provide you the play by play.
