Seniesa Estrada Thinks Leonela Yudica is Susceptible to Stoppage

Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada (24-0, 9 KOs) returns on July 28 to defend the unified women’s minimumweight titles against Leonela Yudica (19-1-3, 1 KO) at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. The defending champion wants to win impressively, but can Estrada take out Yudica by stoppage?

Estrada became unified champion in March 2023 when she scored a ten-round unanimous decision victory over then-WBC 105-pound champion Tina Rupprecht. Speaking to the news outlet Boxing News Weekly, Super Bad admitted that training camp for the shorter and awkward Rupprecht was stressful. Estrada feels she has learned from that experience, and it has made her a better fighter.

NOT A SOFT TOUCH

Yudica is a veteran who held the IBF flyweight title for nearly eight years, from December 2014 to October 2022. Up to this point, the 34-year-old from Argentina is the most accomplished and experienced opponent of Estrada’s career.

The Argentinian is taller and has a much different fighting style than Rupprecht. Estrada thinks she will have to make some adjustments during the early rounds.

“From what I’ve seen, she’s not a fighter. She’s more of a boxer. . . I hope she comes forward because it’s going to make it easier for me to land my power shots. But I know that in the beginning, I’m going to have to kind of take my time, keep my front foot out there to stay close to her, use feints in the beginning, and catch her when she’s open with a big shot.”

THE FOCUS OF HER ATTACK

Estrada said that from watching Yudica on film, the Argentinian does not have great footwork and can get hit. The unified champion said the following when asked if she can see herself winning inside the distance:

“Yeah, I think so . . . I’ve noticed times when she’s hurt in certain fights. She’s been hurt before with body punches . . . I’m going to definitely start working that body early. Like I said before, she’s been hurt there.”

For Estrada, this is her first time being the headliner of a fight card. The minimumweight champion wants to put on a show and have an eye-opening performance against Yudica.
