Shadasia Green Calls BS On Claressa Shields’ Comments
Undisputed middleweight champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (14-0, 2KO), and mandatory super middleweight challenger Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green (12-0, 11KO) recently sparked a heated exchange on social media. The tension escalated when Green refuted T-Rex’s claims of being offered a fight, leading to a back-and-forth battle of words online.
T-Rex sent shockwaves throughout social media after revealing in an interview on The Weigh In Boxing that Green turned down the opportunity to fight. Moreover, she claimed the fight would have been at light-heavyweight if Green would have beaten two-divisional champion Hanna Gabriels.
The mandatory challenger quickly took to social media, disavowing the events stated by Shields. This prompted a swift response from the undisputed middleweight champion calling Green’s “boogeywoman” status fake.
Green has been tirelessly chasing a title shot for a considerable period of time. Her opportunity arose after a significant victory over former unified champion Elin Cederroos on January 26.
The path to a title fight has not been without its share of complexities. Initially, the WBC withdrew an order for Green to fight the then-undisputed champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn. However, after current undisputed champion Savannah Marshall secured the titles, the WBC reissued the order.
Despite the chance to fight for the undisputed titles, The Sweet Terminator’s upcoming bout against WBO #5-rated Olivia Curry puts that opportunity at risk. Notably, Green holds the number one ranking by all four major sanctioning bodies and is widely regarded as a serious threat to anyone in or around her division.
