Shields Betting Savannah Marshall Loses to Franchon Crews-Dezurn
Undisputed middleweight champion Claressa “GWOAT” Shields (13-0, 2KO) believes former WBO middleweight champion Savannah “Silent Assassin” Marshall (12-1, 10KO) is not ready to fight undisputed super middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn (8-1, 2KO).
3kingsboxing.com reported that Crew-Dezurn is looking to put the undisputed status on the line against Marshall on June 17. In the press conference for their fight, Crews-Dezurn made it clear that Marshall would be in for a tough night.
SHIELDS BELIEVES MARSHALL’S CONFIDENCE IS SHOT
Many fans believe that Marshall is using this fight to lure Shields into a rematch, provided she is victorious. During an interview with Sky Sports Boxing, Shields doubted Marshall’s confidence.
“I can see from the beating I gave Savannah Marshall [that] she’s not as confident as she used to be. I watched the press conference . . . I think this fight is too soon for her. She hasn’t recovered yet from her last fight. I didn’t see her say she was going to knock Franchon out . . . She was saying she was going to knock me out in some rounds. I think her confidence right now is not there.”
Claressa Shields ended by stating, win or lose against Crews-Dezurn, Marshall can fight for the undisputed middleweight crown.
“I would love to do it again. She loses this fight to Franchon, which I think she will, she can still come get the smoke and try to fight me again for my undisputed championships, and I’ll whoop her again.”
Marshall recently stated that the reason for the rematch not taking place is due to GWOAT asking for too much money. Shields may have provided the extra motivation Silent Assassin needed going into the fight against the undisputed super middleweight champion.
