Claressa Shields continues to war with Laila Ali over social media!
It didn’t take long for three-division world champion, current undisputed middleweight champion and unified junior middleweight champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (10-0, 2KOs) to respond to the comments made by retired former champion Laila Ali about her power.
As we previously reported, Ali feels that Shields lacks the power and skills to compete with her, if the two were to ever fight.
The ever so confident self proclaimed “GWOAT” didn’t take too kind to those comments. An accomplished Shields, who won two Olympic Gold Medals as an amateur in the 2012 and 2016 games, has translated that success well in the pro ranks; amassing world titles in three different divisions.
THE NAME MAKES HER RELEVANT!
Shields feels Ali is only relevant due to her last name being “Ali”. As you all know, she’s the daughter of the legendary self proclaimed GOAT Muhammad Ali. She followed in her father’s footsteps becoming a boxer and found her own success winning titles in two weight divisions, while finishing her career unbeaten with a record of 24-0, 21 knockouts.
DON’T UNDERESTIMATE MY POWER!
While Shields only has a 20 percent knockout ratio, she warned Ali of overlooking that aspect of her game. There’s a difference in punching power and natural strength. While she may not have the pop of Ali, her physical strength may be able to make up for that.
Needless to say, these two women should stop the talking and come to the negotiating table and hammer out a deal. That way, all this back and forth throughout the media can be put to bed and prove once and for all who is the superior fighter.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available.
