Bruno Surace Wins a Surprising KO Victory Over Jaime Munguia!
In a wild turn of events, super middleweight boxer Jaime Munguia (44-2, 35 KO’s) suffered a crushing sixth round upset knockout loss at the hands of Bruno “Brunell” Surace (26-0-2, 5 KO’s). Surace actually opened the bout well, circling the ring and keeping Munguia at bay with a surprisingly fast jab. The tables quickly changed in the second when Munguia dropped Surace with a brick of a left hook square in the mouth.
The French fighter got to his feet and fought on without issue to the conclusion of the period. From that point on however, Munguia was largely in control of the battle. Generally the action consisted of Munguia pushing Surace around the ring and up on the ropes. When against the straps, Munguia swarmed to the delight of the crowd. This pattern persisted for a number of rounds.
In the sixth round, this same format held true for the first two minutes. Then, caught with his hands criminally low, Munguia was cracked on the tip of the chin with a devastating straight right. The crackling shot violently cranked Munguia’s neck and laid him flat on his back with his arms out as if making snow angels. Munguia was unable to compose himself before the count.
