Liam Smith set to face Sam Eggington March 30
Former junior middleweight champion, Liam Smith (29-2-1, 14KO), will return on March 30 at M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England. There, he’ll face longtime fringe contender Sam Eggington (23-5, 15KO).
This bout will kickoff, Smith’s new deal with Matchroom. He is coming off a decision loss to WBO champion Jamie Munguia in a highly entertaining fight.
He now looks to get back in the win column against Eggington, who’s never reached the world championship level. However, he has notable wins over former world champion Paulie Malignaggi and world title challenger Frankie Gavin.
Smith will be the favorite heading into this fight. In Eggington’s most recent fight, Hassan Mwakinyo stopped him in the second round.
A win here for either men would be huge for their title hopes down the line.
