Errol Spence and Mikey Garcia do great numbers for their first pay-per-view bouts!
Errol Spence’s title defense over previously unbeaten four-division champion Mikey Garcia appears to be both a success in and out the ring.
Early returns on the PPV numbers are projected to reach over 350,000. When you combine this with the 47,000 plus that attended the fight, both fighters will make significant additions to their final purses for the event.
This news has huge ramifications on the entire division as the current welterweight champions Terrence Crawford (WBO), Shawn Porter (WBC), and Keith Thurman (WBA) will possibly have to concede the A-side position in any negotiations with the IBF champion.
With Terrence Crawford’s upcoming bout against Amir Khan in April, the pressure is on for the bout to perform in the ring and the box office.
As for Spence and Garcia, they can relax and wait for the final PPV returns and enjoy well earned vacations knowing their in strong negotiating positions when they return to the ring.
