Carlos Adames Believes his Montiel Win Proves he Bests Jermall Charlo!

In many respects, middleweight pugilist Carlos Adames (22-1, 17 KO’s) is coming off the best win of his professional career. In his last contest, the Dominican fought and stopped Juan Macias Montiel in three short, destructive rounds. While it’s true that Montiel was no great name in the division, his name was very recognizable because of his bout with WBC 160-pound champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (32-0, 22 KO’s).

Following twelve rounds of intense action, Charlo defeated his tough Mexican adversary by way of unanimous decision. During those twelve rounds however, Hit Man more than had his hands full and ate his fair share of menacing leather. This is precisely why the brevity of the beating he tossed upon Montiel was so impressive.

KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR!

Given the trappings of human nature, it was only expected for the two performances to be compared. It’s also of no great surprise that Adames, 28, quickly called Charlo out following his duel. Only time will tell if the hands of fate have scripted these two fighters to clash in the ring.

Yet, in the meantime, the rough-knuckled Dominican boxer has continued to express his bubbling confidence. In fact, during a recent Q&A with EsNews, Adames boldly stated he doubts that the WBC champion could offer any real resistance!

“If Charlo went twelves rounds with Montiel, I don’t think he can go one round with me!”

WHEN THE MATH ADDS UP

Honestly speaking, Charlo versus Adames just might have a great chance of getting made. One of the biggest and most consistent knocks against Hit Man is that he doesn’t face the best opposition. Not to be funny, but the clearly capable Adames is far from one of the best. Or said differently, he is not the most proven guy in or around the division. For example, Charlo has routinely dodged match-ups with one-time WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade.

Likewise, after talking up a fight with two-time WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez, Charlo has seemingly done everything to not face him. In Adames though, Hit Man would find an opponent who is exciting, on a win streak and whose name is currently buzzing. Greasing the wheels a bit more, both fighters are pushed under the Premier Boxing Champions promotional banner. Even better, the Dominican is ranked #1 (WBC), #3 (WBO) and #6 (WBA). So with his WBC standing, Adames is already nicely lined up for a Charlo showdown.

In the end though, this still is boxing. Just because something makes senses and the fans would like it is far from a guarantee that this is what the fans will get! So, let’s sit back and see what comes of this potentially beneficial situation for Carlos Adames. Luckily, no matter who fights who in the end, 3Kings Boxing with be here catalogue all the mayhem!
