Amid the absence of Keith Thurman, Spence/Crawford may be the most exciting fight a 147!
In a recent interview, IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence revealed his intentions while campaigning at welterweight. In reference to the upcoming bout between WBO champion Jeff Horn and Terence Crawford, he states:
“If Crawford does get the belt from Jeff Horn, you know I’m coming to take that belt too, because I want to be undisputed Welterweight Champion of the world!”
That is a bold statement targeted at the first undisputed champion the sport has seen in eleven years. As 3kingsboxing.com has reported earlier, there has been some tension brewing between these two fighters over the past few months.
While many fans were busy scrutinizing Keith Thurman, Crawford was publicly voicing his want for a Spence fight. The IBF champion responded, stating the former junior welterweight champion will need to win a belt at welterweight first. He voiced the same thought process while keeping his composure; under heavy fire by Max Kellerman on ESPN First Take.
Should Crawford defeat Horn this Saturday, will it setup a unification bout between these two? Is this the huge fight at welterweight that fans should crave for? Sure Danny Garcia vs Shawn Porter this August is good but will it be as excellent as this matchup?
Spence is scheduled to defend his IBF title against Carlos Ocampo next weekend. If the two become victorious, we may have an opportunity to see a mega fight we didn’t anticipate happening so soon!
