Stevenson Cruises To Early KO Win

Stevenson Continues To Impress

In the opening TV bout on the undercard of Lomachenko/Rigondeaux from The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City Shakur Stevenson (3-0, 1 KO) went up against Oscar Mendoza (4-2, 2 KO’s) in a featherweight 6 round bout.

In the first round Stevenson came forward being the aggressor and putting pressure on Mendoza. Stevenson was simply outclassing Mendoza who seemed to be in there just to survive. Stevenson appeared to hurt Mendoza to the head and body prompting the referee to step in and stop the fight in the second round.

Ithoughtthe stoppagemay have been a bitpremature but I don’t think the outcomechanges either way.For Stevenson, the highly touted prospect seem to take a another step forward in his career. He looked sharped and strong, heappears to keepgetting better each time out. I’m sure Top Rank will get him back in the ring soon as he made it look easy tonight.
