Caleb Truax Shocks James DeGale

Truax Stuns DeGale

In the main event on BT Sports Fight Night From the Copper Box Arena in London, England IBF Super Middleweight Champion James DeGale (23-1, 14 KO’s) put his title on the line against Caleb Truax (28-3, 18 KO’s).

DeGale a natural switch hitter started the fight in a southpaw stand e controlling the pace of the fight while looking to land power shots. In the second and third it looked like DeGale looked to used his movement while fighting behind his jab and Truax would look to get inside and pinned DeGale against the ropes and let his hands go.

Truax known to be a slow starter seemed to pick up his pace faster than usual. Truax kept the pressure on DeGale in the 5th landing some huge uppercuts that seemed to hurt the champion. Truax stayed on the inside hitting DeGale with some big shots that caused some blood to come out of his mouth.

In the 6th and 7th DeGale fought on his back foot while keeping a high guard and Truax just kept coming forward pinning DeGale on the ropes and letting his hands go.

By the end of the 8th the fight seemed even with Truax doing some great work putting pressure on DeGale. In the 10th Truax had another good round landing the cleaner punches while in the 11th DeGale seemed to come on in the second half of the round landing some sharp shots while using his movement.

Caleb Truax was supposed to be a stay busy fightbutgave DeGale all he couldhandle.Truaxwas rewardedfor his hard workwith a majority decision (114-114, 115-112, 116-112) to become the new IBF Super Middleweight Champion of the World.
