Shakur Stevenson Doubts Devin Haney Returns to Lightweight

Lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (30-0, 15 KO) has decided to go for glory by fighting WBC junior welterweight champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis. In the mean time, the WBC decided to name Haney their lightweight Champion in Recess. This designation would leave the door open for The Dream to fight two-division champion Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson (20-0, 10 KO). Yet, Stevenson doubts Haney will return to the division to fight him.

DOUBTING THE CHAMPION’S WILL RETURN

While speaking with FightHype, Fearless gave the main reason why he believes The Dream was never serious about coming back down.

“He keeps trying to put out a rumor that he’s going to come back down in weight. I don’t know why he’s doing all that faking. Like, if you can’t make the weight, just say you can’t make the weight.”

“I don’t know why he keeps acting like he’s going to come back down after the fight or anything like that . . . I dare him to come back down. I dare him.”

It’s no secret that Stevenson has wanted to fight Haney for the undisputed crown, as the two have traded verbal jabs on social media. As of right now, he hopes to land a fight with multi-divisional champion Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko for the vacant WBC title.
