Shakur Stevenson Wants to See William Zepeda’s Boogeyman Credentials
Two-division champion Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson (19-0, 9KO), continues to call for a fight with hard-hitting top lightweight contender William “Camaron” Zepeda (27-0, 23KO). Moreover, he wants the winner to fight for the undisputed status next, if possible.
On October 29, Camaron announced himself to the division with a big win over former IBF junior-lightweight champion Joseph Diaz. This victory catapulted him into the minds of the boxing community. DAZN would post a question on social media asking who wanted next, which prompted a response from Fearless.
Stevenson still wants to make that fight a reality. The WBC has ordered him to fight one-time title contender Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz. However, Team Cruz was not interested in fighting Stevenson, believing his style is all wrong for Pitbull. Top Rank head honcho Bob Arum chimed in with claims about Team Cruz not being anxious to make the fight.
STEVENSON WANTS A PIECE OF THE BOOGEYMAN
Stevenson took to social media with an idea of who he could fight next since Team Cruz is not looking to step up to the plate.
This tweet sent a few fans into a frenzy. Some fans inside the boxing community view the hard-hitting Mexican as a boogeyman. True to form, Stevenson counterpunched the narrative by calling for a fight with Zepeda again.
Since entering the lightweight division after losing his unified titles at 130 on the scales, Stevenson has been on a mission to fight only the top guys en route to a championship.
3Kings Boxing will continue to monitor this situation for any further development.
