Mauricio Sulaimán give a little insight on the WBC’s role in the Dillian Whyte situation.

While attending the 7th annual Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame Induction Gala, WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán took a moment to answers questions from the media. Of course the first thing asked is the situation concerning the failed PED test by Dillian Whyte.

The WBC President is limited to what can be said stating:

“It’s a highly sensitive matter! It’s very legal!”

When asked exactly what information did they have surrounding the situation, he replied:

“We don’t know much. We have contacted the British Boxing Board of Control and we are in contact with Dillian Whyte’s camp and UKAD. What the WBC did was suspend provisionally the recognition of Whyte as Interim champion and mandatory challenger.

“He [Whyte] isn’t suspended [from boxing], we need to do the process under our rules and regulations.”

This essentially means that the British fighter can continue to fight while waiting on the ruling from the organization. It could be a long process depending on how long it takes to gather all necessary documents before making a decision.

It’s still baffling that the BBBofC and UKAD haven’t tested the second urine sample to see if it matches what was found in the first sample.

As it stands right now Whyte’s long awaited title opportunity continues to hang in the balance due to this unresolved issue.
