Tank Validates Roach Jr. To Seek Jake Paul Cash-out Bout
In a move that has the boxing community buzzing with disbelief, WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis will face YouTuber Jake Paul. This means Tank will forgo the rematch against WBA junior lightweight champion Lamont Roach Jr., in what should be seen as a cash-out fight with Paul.
Several boxing fans are scratching their heads about this one, which came out of nowhere. In addition, the WBA champion’s domestic issues earlier in the year had pundits questioning if the rematch was going to happen.
Roach Jr. had no problem posting on social media that Davis is ducking the rematch.

In this author’s opinion, Davis is looking to cash out before retiring from the sport. Other boxing enthusiasts have expressed wanting the WBA champion to retire from the sport, considering Davis isn’t willing to fight any of the other champions in the division.
Cashing out is the only explanation that makes sense. Davis is a lightweight, and Paul has fought at a weight well over 200 pounds. So, they will have to fight at some kind of catchweight. Davis will deserve every bit of criticism that comes his way, if this news is true.
