Tank Davis Puts Roach Rematch In Jeopardy Over Domestic Issues
WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ domestic issues could result in the cancellation of the rematch with WBA junior lightweight champion Lamont Roach Jr.
The boxing news cycle was in full throttle with reports of Tank’s domestic violence arrest on July 11. This isn’t the first time the Baltimore power-puncher had issues with putting his hands on a woman. In 2020, a video of him grabbing and dragging his baby mother out of a basketball game went viral.
Although he was found to be innocent when the mother of his child recanted claims of a domestic incident, Davis couldn’t seem to avoid having legal issues. With this latest news, boxing fans are wondering what this means for the upcoming rematch set to take place in August.
It’s worth mentioning that Roach took to social media, letting everyone know that the fight is still happening. However, the scheduled fight has been removed from the 3kingsboxing.com upcoming events list.
Davis needs to get a handle on his personal, for it could hinder his future in the sport. Depending on what happens, should this go to court, Davis’ boxing future could be in serious jeopardy.
