Tank Davis And Benn Engage In A War of Words On Social Media
WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (29-0, 27KO) and welterweight contender Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (23-0, 14KO) are blowing up on social media. After a heated back and forth, Tank issued a challenge to the undefeated British welterweight.
The Destroyer is coming off a solid victory in a much needed performance, where he defeated Peter Dobson. Ready to push toward fighting a big name next, Benn took to social media with a list of names as potential next opponents.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
For some reason, Tank chimed in with a comment that started a war of words.
Benn is not one to back down and quickly responds by taking a shot at Davis’ past with domestic troubles.
“Oh, here he is the woman beating munchkin from oz! Let’s do it next??”
Conor Benn
It didn’t end there as the hard-hitting Baltimore power puncher fired right back.
“Sure, why not…where would you like yo ass whooping at bruv.”
Gervonta Davis
WHY THE FIGHT WON’T HAPPEN NEXT
As entertaining as this is, fans should pump the brakes before getting too excited. It’s highly unlikely the two will meet in the ring. Tank hasn’t been in the ring since defeating Ryan Garcia in April 2023. In addition, his legal issues have been a hindrance in Team Davis’ ability to make any plans. If that isn’t enough, there is no way his team allow him to go up two-weight classes in a return fight.
Benn, as mentioned previously, is looking to revisit the fight against Chris Eubank Jr.. In addition, he could face top junior middleweight contender Josh Kelly in another big domestic-level fight in the United Kingdom. If the goal is to fight for a world title, then a fight with the WBA champion is far from happening next.
As of the writing of this article, both fighters were still trading shots on social media.
