Josh Taylor bout with Jack Catterall postponed
Earlier this week, Dillian Whyte was forced to pull out of his upcoming fight date due to a shoulder injury. The heavyweight was supposed to face Otto Wallin on October 30. Now undisputed super lightweight champion Josh “The Tartan Tornado” Taylor (18-0, 13 KO’s) has withdrawn from his December 18 fight date with Jack “El Gato” Catterall (26-0, 13 KO’s). Thankfully though, the bout has already been rescheduled for February 26.
Despite being upcoming in-ring rivals, there is a bit of respect between the two pugilists. In his last dustup, Taylor went head-to-head with Jose Carlos Ramirez, a bout he won by way of unanimous decision. With the victory, the Tartan Tornado initially became the undisputed champion of the division. This relates back to Catteral, the WBO super lightweight mandatory challenger, because he stepped aside to allow the unification bout to take place. To show his appreciation, Taylor promised him a shot right away. Their December-now-February bout is proof of the champion’s sincerity.
In a brief statement, Taylor took to his social media to express how dismayed he was at the unfortunate development.
