Terence Crawford Looking To Make Undisputed History Against Errol Spence!
Reigning WBO welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) understands the enormity of his July 29 showdown against unified 147-pound champion Errol “The Truth” Spence (28-0, 22 KOs). Crawford is hungry to win and accomplish becoming the first multi-division undisputed champion in the four-belt era!
It’s a match-up that enthusiasts and observers have wanted to see for several years. During an online conference call with the media, Crawford explained that the fight was made when he and Spence blocked out all the outside noise, had a series of one-on-one conversations, and hammered out a deal.
PUTTING THINGS IN THE PROPER PERSPECTIVE
In the past, Crawford expressed a public attitude of indifference when asked about fighting Spence. The WBO champion has since clarified his previous stance and now acknowledges that fighting the unified champion is a must.
“Errol is my biggest dance partner. […] Being the magnitude of the fight, the stage of this fight, the level, everything that’s surrounding this fight and that’s on the line with this one fight, yes, I needed Errol.
“But as far as career-wise, legacy-wise, I didn’t need Errol because I’ve already accomplished so much in the sport of boxing. I can retire right now and be in the Hall of Fame, ride into the sunset, and be comfortable with what I’ve accomplished in the sport of boxing.
“This is the cherry on top of my ice cream.”
READY TO MAKE HISTORY
Crawford said he does not doubt that the fight with Spence will be exciting. He wants to win to prove he is the best of his generation.
Bud also has an eye on being the first male fighter in the four-belt era to become undisputed in two weight divisions. He plans to put it all on the line and wants to set himself apart from all others.
“Yeah, It’s going to be a great fight. It’s going to be a great feeling walking away with all those belts and becoming the first male boxer in the four-belt era to win all four titles in two different divisions, back-to-back.”
