Katharina Thanderz is ready to take the title home
News broke that undisputed lightweight champion Katie “KT” Taylor’s (16-0, 6ko) upcoming bout with mandatory challenger Miriam Gutierrez (13-0, 5ko) will be the main event for an all women’s tripleheader card. Moreover, one of the fights on that card will feature WBC junior lightweight champion Terri Harper (10-0-1, 5ko) making a second title defense against Katharina Thanderz (13-0, 2ko). Although, many felt the WBC champion got a lucky break with a draw against former 2012 Olympian Natasha Jonas (9-1-1, 7ko). Furthermore, fans felt that a rematch was in order. Even British promoter Eddie Hearn agreed that they should run it back.
Jonas, during an interview with Boxing Social, said that a rematch was possible. Yet, she also understands how nothing is final until it is on paper.
“They said yeah, and we said yeah. But nothing in boxing is ever set until it’s contracted so we’ll see.”

She had no idea how right that statement would turn out to be. In boxing, nothing ever goes according to plan. The WBC has ordered it’s champion to fight Thanderz, who picked up the Interim belt by defeating Danila “A Guerreira” Ramos (8-2, 1ko) back in November 2019. Thanderz is excited to have this opportunity. It is something she has been fighting towards since 2019.
3kingsboxing was able to speak with the WBC Interim titlist and she is very confident in her ability to win the championship.
“I’m training very hard, I’m in really good shape, and excited about the fight. I’m prepared to shock everyone.”
She ended the interview with this statement, punctuating a core belief in herself.
“I am not coming home without the belt.”
