Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis 2021?
Undefeated Golden Boy prospect Ryan “Kingry” Garcia (20-0, 17ko) isn’t afraid of the smoke with anyone, whether it is in or out of boxing. The talented California boxer has been in plenty of social media beef lately. There was the very public back and forth with MMA fighters Dillion Danis and Henry Cejudo to speak of here.
Next would be his challenge to YouTube star Jake Paul. However, when it comes to the sport of boxing, the heir apparent to the Canelo Alvarez throne has maintained the same energy.
One of the more entertaining social media attacks this year for the undefeated lightweight was with WBA ‘regular’ champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (23-0, 22ko). The California boxer made a video poking fun at the Baltimore power-puncher having a little potbelly.
THE HISTORY
This is not the first time that Kingry went after the Baltimore fighter. During the entire quarantine, personal shots were taken. Garcia went after his rival for an incident where the WBA ‘regular’ champion was caught on video in a physical altercation with the mother of his child.
Furthermore, he took to social media back in March with a tweet asking for a fight with Davis.
“Gervonta Davis I want to fight now let’s not wait.”
So its clear that he is not just talking.
A SHOWDOWN IN 2021
Although, as it stands right now, both men have obligations to fulfill first before they can meet. Davis is locked into a fight with WBA ‘super’ junior lightweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (37-1-1, 19ko) set to take place October 24.
Meanwhile, Golden Boy Promotions are looking to secure a fight for Garcia for the WBC interim belt and mandatory position against two-time title contender Luke Campbell (20-3, 16ko).
However, that has not stopped “Kingry” from chasing the fight he wants. Taking to social media yet again, he issued a challenge to Davis. However, this time we may have gotten confirmation that a fight could take place next year.
