Tim Tzsyu Calls For A Showdown With Keith Thurman
One-time junior middleweight champion Tim “The Soul Taker” (25-2, 18 KOs) has officially got his swagger back following an impressive fourth-round stoppage over Joey Spencer. Next up is likely a showdown with former unified welterweight champion Keith “One-Time” Thurman.
Fighting in front of the home folks in Australia, Tzsyu was a bit conservative in the opening couple of rounds. After letting the punches flow in round three, Tszu took over the fight.
In the fourth round, he stunned Spencer with sixty-five seconds to go in the round. Spencer’s corner threw in the towel bringing the fight to an end with forty seconds left in the round.
Tszyu and Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) were to fight in March 2024, but the fight was canceled due to Thurman’s injury. Since then, Tszyu’s world has been turned upside down with losses to Sebastian Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev in 2024.
After a lengthy layoff, Thurman returned to action with a third-round stoppage over Brock Jarvis on March 12. When asked about facing the former unified welterweight champion, Tszyu replied:
“Sign the contract big boy, sign the contract … If the fans want it and we can bring a big show to Australia, the boys at No Limit you know who to contact.”
Look for Tszyu and Thurman to finally fight one another, either in the summer or early fall of this year.
