Oleksandr Usyk Responds to Tyson Fury’s Trash Talk
As is his way, WBC heavyweight Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (32-0-1, 23 KO’s) has recently scolded unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KO’s). In his last match, Usyk successfully made the first defense of his trio of titles. He did so in a thrilling and entertaining prizefight with two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
Following this victorious contest, the unified champion would go on to call out Fury. Provided that the two did compete, the winner would be crowned the undisputed champion of the division. Yet, after highlighting his interest in a fight with The Gypsy King, Usyk quickly double-back to say that it would definitely not happen this year. Upon hearing that information Fury took to his social media where he talked his standard level of trash.
SAY LESS
Unsurprisingly, upon hearing about Fury’s antics and acidic words, Usyk also made time for a rebuttal. Far less dramatic, or profane, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion opted to be more poetic in his response when speaking to Sky Sports.
“He wants to fight against me. He wants people to talk about him. He hasn’t retired yet, it’s just a game – ‘I’m leaving boxing’, ‘I’m coming back’. He still wants to earn money. All the fanciful comments against me, he probably thinks it will touch me. But it won’t. I take it like the crow arguing with the wolf sitting from the tree… the reality is that if the crow was close to the wolf, she would keep silent. Tyson Fury loves to talk. All of that blah blah blah.”
There is little doubt that this back-and-forth will continue over the next several months as the two will dominate boxing media. In the end though, all that really matters is that after all the talk they really do settle matters in the ring! So, let’s keep our fingers crossed that the business gets handled!
