Verdejo set to return with a new team
The 25 year-old Verdejo (23-1, 15KOs) will look to get back in the win column as he takes on Armenta Cruz (24-11, 14KOs).
The fight will take place at the Mario ‘Quijote’ Morales Coliseum in Guaynab. This will be Verdejo’s first fight since losing for the forst time as a professional at the hands of Antonio Lozada Torres in March.
After that fight Verdejo, shook things up by making notable additions to his corner. At head trainer, he hired the uncle of future Hall of Fame fighter Miguel Cotto in Evangelista Cotto. In addition, he added strength and conditioning coach Angel “Memo” Heredia.
Cruz has been in the ring with a plethora of contenders and champions. From prospects like Andy Vences to world title holders like Alberto Machado and former champions like Billy Dib, he has fought them all.
The fight will take place as a part of “Night Of Champions” on DirecTV!
