Vergil Ortiz Jr Ready For Terence Crawford Next
WB0/WBA #1, WBC #2 and IBF #3 ranked welterweight Vergil Ortiz Jr. (19-0, 19KOs) made a successful return to the ring after disposing of WBO #5 ranked contender Michael McKinson in nine rounds. This comes after being out of the ring for nearly a year post being diagnosed with rhabedomyolysis last March. The win further solidified Ortiz as he’s right there on the cusp of challenging for his first world title.
With Ortiz holding the number one rankings in the WBO and WBA, he’s on a collision course with either Terence Crawford, who holds the WBO title, unified champion Errol Spence, who holds the WBA “super” title or WBA “regular” champ Eimantas Stanionis.

In the aftermath of victory, Ortiz was specifically asked about possibly fighting Crawford.
“Well first of all, as I told you earlier in the week, he’s a little tied up right now. But if the opportunity comes, I’m more than happy to fight.”
It’s no big surprise to hear Ortiz say he’s ready for Crawford as he’s been calling the three-division world champion out for quite some time now. However, as he mentioned, the WBO champ is currently involved in negotiations with Spence as both men are trying to hammer out a deal to meet in a highly anticipated welterweight undisputed clash later this year.
Needless to say, whether it’s this year or in 2023, Ortiz will challenge for his very first world title very soon.
