Frank Warren Announces Deadline to Finalize Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury!

The boxing world needs to prepare for the possibility of not getting the undisputed heavyweight showdown between unified champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13KO) and WBC champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (33-0-1, 24KO). Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren has publicly issued a deadline for the fight to be finalized.

Usyk defeated Anthony Joshua in their rematch in August of 2022 to retain the unified championship and immediately called out Fury. The Gypsy King came out of a self-proclaimed retirement to accept the fight for undisputed. For the second half of 2022, all fans heard was how close the fight is to being done.

There was good news as both fighters agreed to fight. Next, news hit that the fight is to take place at Wembley Stadium on April 29.

FRANK WARREN ISSUES A DEADLINE OF THIS WEEK

Yet, boxing fans still have not received an official announcement. This typically means negotiations are ongoing. During an interview with talkSPORT, Frank Warren offered a reason for the hold-up.

“Getting a final agreement between all the parties. At the end of the day, I can’t force Usyk to fight. I can’t force Tyson to fight, that’s their choice. They’re the guys getting in the ring and at the end of the day, we’re either going to make this happen or not.”

Warren further issued a timeframe before possibly looking to move on.

“It’s not going to go past this week, that’s for sure because the proposed date is April 29 . . . we have to contract with the venue to make it happen.”

All fans can do now is wait and see what happens before the end of the week. 3Kings Boxing will continue to follow this story for any further development.
